What is the value of the Republican Platform to Republican officials?

Chairman,

What is the value of the Republican Platform to Republican officials?

What is the value of the words and deeds of Republican officials?

On the big questions? Not much.

Republican members, again, voted against our party and platform. Three members of our delegation voted in favor of a national, one size fits all, same-sex marriage bill. They did it just in case the new conservative majority on the Supreme Court of the United States, whom they praised, overturns the terrible, far reaching, decision that slandered Americans who held to traditional marriage that-

”there is “no legitimate purpose” served by such a law, and will claim that the traditional definition has “the purpose and effect to disparage and to injure” the “personhood and dignity” of same-sex couples” – Scalia-Dissent/Windsor

-and took away the choice from the voters of each State to decide the question.

On marriage, our party platform states-

“Traditional marriage and family, based on marriage between one man and one woman, is the foundation for a free society and has for a millennia been entrusted with rearing children and instilling cultural values.”

It further states that-

“We condem the Supreme Court’s ruling in … Windsor, which wrongly removed the ability of Congress to define marriage policy in federal law.”

It goes on to state that-

“We also condemn the Supreme Court’s lawless ruling in Obergefell …, which” Justice Scalia proclaimed “was a judicial Putsch” and “robbed 320 million Americans of their legitimate constitutional authority to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman.”

The Gang of 47: They Dissent

On Federalism, it states-

“Federalism is a cornerstone of our constitutional system. Every violation of state sovereignty by federal officials is not merely a transgression of one unit of government against another, it is an assault on the liberties of individual Americans. Hence the promise of the tenth amendment:”.

The Gang of 47: They Dissent

How many times will we stand by while Republican officials dissent against our party and platform and advance the agenda of the Democratic Party? These last 22 years, we have been battling, not only the communist Democratic Party, but Republicans that campaign as conservatives and then vote like Democrats.

What is most laughable? They not only betray our voters, but can’t even get anything in return for their betrayal. Where are the 47 Democrats to join them in the simplest of actions? They couldn’t even get support for a resolution condemning the attacks on churches and fire bombings of pro-life pregnancy centers.

No longer can Republican officials say they are powerless because of a court decision. As the court returns power to the States, more and more of these so-called Republicans will vote as they truly believe and vote against our party. The veil is being lifted. We cannot shield them for fear of losing seats to Democratic candidates or worry that accountability will transform them into Specteresque turncoats.

Though they are few, they are enough to sabotage our party and scuttle our agenda. We are left biting our finger nails on every major issue due to constant betrayal by the self-appointment “mavericks” in Congress and the courts. Our county parties can take action- they can censure them and endorse their opponents.

Sincerely,
